Watercolor Background with Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls

Hello, everyone. Today I have a simple and easy card design with some beautiful shimmer on a easy to create watercolor effect background.

To create the watercolor effect background, I inked up my stamp from Simon Says Stamp Tropical Leaves stamp set with some Distress Inks. Then I sprayed the inked stamp with my mister bottle from about 2 feet above for 2-3 times. This way, when you stamp the image on the paper, you get a faux watercolor look effortlessly. If the stamped image is not even, you can go in with a watercolor brush or a water brush which what I used to move the colors around and help them blend.

Once the first layer is dry, go in with Versamark ink to stamp on the detail layer. I then used a perfect pearls brush to add some Perfect Pearls Gold pigment powder to give the background some pretty yet subtle shimmer. I kept the rest of the card simple. I gold heat embossed the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Friendship Blooms stamp set onto a piece of black cardstock with Hero Arts Gold embossing powder. Added some dimension by sticking some craft foam behind the panel and put it on an A2 size black note card. To finish it off, I added some clear droplets using Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew color.

Here is another example I created with the same stamp set but a different color combination. 

For the shimmer details, I used Perfect Pearls Bronze color, and to match the color, I heat embossed the sentiment with Simon Says Stamp Antique Gold embossing powder.

I showed the two finished cards to my hubby see which one he likes better. He said he like them equally, but the blue purple color combo seems to fit more seasons and occasions. What do you think? Which one you like better?
